ClipNote Privacy Policy

ClipNote ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that lets you save, summarize, and search timestamped YouTube video segments. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information (when you sign in with Google)

Sign-in is powered by Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. ClipNote never sees or stores your Google password.

Authentication Tokens

Firebase ID tokens (signed JWTs) are obtained after sign-in and sent as a Bearer header on API requests to authenticate you. Tokens are cached in memory only for up to 2 minutes and are never written to disk or transmitted to any third party other than the ClipNote backend.

Clip Activity

When you explicitly save a clip, the following information is sent to and stored by the ClipNote backend:

5. Data Retention

Your clips and account data are retained on the ClipNote backend as long as your account is active. You can delete individual clips at any time from the extension. To request full account deletion, contact us at the email below.

6. Children's Privacy

ClipNote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
